Snow Day

We woke up to about 10 new inches of snow this morning and played in it all day long.  Such fun!  Wes blew us out with the snowblower.

I made a cute snowman.

We went x country skiing up Smithfield Canyon.  We took Karlton for their first time ever.  They were naturals!

We saw this truck where we parked.  This guy had been up the canyon when this happened to his truck.  Sad!  It didn't look like a ton of damage to the truck, but it was a pretty big tree.  It had just snapped off from the weight of the new snow.  We met the guy coming out of the canyon.  He had heard a couple of people telling him about his truck but he hadn't seen it yet.  When we came out of the canyon a couple of hours later, he was still there with a chainsaw trying to loose the tree.  What a mess!  I hope he got out okay and didn't have too much damage.

The canyon was simply stunning today.  The trees were all bowed over with the weight of the snow and we skied through a bunch of tree tunnels.  The powder was deep.  We had so much fun.

Piggie Tails

Oh my goodness, is this the cutest thing or what?  Livi came today with these adorable teeny tiny piggie tails in her hair.  She is almost 1!  She is mobile now, with a cute little one knee, one foot action crawl/scoot.  She is jabbery and happy and pretty close to perfect.  Love you, little miss!

Empty Nest Weekend Take Two

There's no cure for the blues better than hanging out at Island Park with this group.  We've been going for ten years now.  We haven't made it every single year, but we've sure tried.  It's always a great time full of food, games, puzzles, more food, movies, cross country skiing, and just enjoying each other's company.  Thanks Andersons for making it happen!  And thanks everyone for the laughs.  Werewolves, open your eyes!

First stop, Yummy House in IF for dinner Friday night.

There was a Corvette in the garage when we got there!

Saturday's cross country adventure on the Moose Loop.

About 20 minutes in, Scott's binding broke.  Wes to the rescue!  He had brought duct tape along.  It worked pretty well until we were on the back half of the loop and the duct tape finally gave out.  Poor Scott had to walk the rest of the way.  He's a trooper.

The swans were everywhere along the river.  We saw about two dozen in the water, and several more that flew overhead.  Wow, they are a stunning animal, huge and so pretty when they fly.

We stopped for lunch where the rivers intersect before making the rest of the loop.  We made it out just as the snow was starting to fall.  Beautiful scenery all along the way, what a great day!

We always enjoy attending church at the Island Park ward.  Interestingly, this year the couple who spoke were the very same couple who spoke the last time we were there!  We enjoyed a walk around the neighborhood after church, and then we packed up and drove home.  Sure wish we had a few more days!  Thank you everyone!  Until next time...
