Top of Utah 1/2 Marathon
At the beginning of July, my good friend, Shauna asked me if I would walk the 1/2 marathon with her. "Sure!" I said, "I could do that!" We registered with 2 other friends, Ranae and Susan, and then I thought "wait, CAN I do that?" 13.1 miles is a long way to walk, so the training began! We started doing long walks on Saturdays. Since the 1/2 marathon route is mostly downhill, we trained going down Smithfield canyon. Our first long walk, I had shin splints, and I was chafed all over. I got some expert advice from my friend RaLee, who not only runs marathons, she wins them! She gave me some socks that she loves, and I got some better clothing, shoes, and body lubricant. I normally walk for an hour a few mornings a week, but who knew that walking for longer and at a faster pace would necessitate all these changes? But it seriously helped. We had a great race, coming in at 3:05 which is fast for us! The temp was just right, and the Blacksmith fork canyon route is gorgeous. 2300 runners were there, and it was organized, wonderful volunteers, we just had a blast! I never thought I would do something like this, and I'm proud of all of us for finishing. Thanks, Shauna, for getting us on board!
Here we are ALMOST at the finish line:
We finished together, and were happy with our time:
All smiles after we were done, Susan, Ranae, Shauna, and me:

My Hot Husband
Here are some of Wes's adventures from this summer:
He went on a few motorcycle rides:
with "the guys:"
On this particular ride, Wes had forgotten his motorcycle boots, a pretty essential piece of equipment! He made do by duct taping his sandals!
Wes also started a Wednesday Waterski night. Guys only. He got a few friends to go with him, and they hit the lake just about every week.
He hasn't lost any skills over the years. Plus if you look closely, he still uses his tongue to help guide his turns!
I love you, you hottie!!!

Lava Hot Springs
I haven't been to this pool since college. It's about time I took my kids there! We had a blast with the Ecks and the Wallaces. My kids are already asking when we can go there again!
Connor, Chase, Katie, and Karlee flew off the first platform. They are much braver than me!
Colton and Connor: "Just let me eat my lunch, man!"
They don't come much cuter than happy energy boy TJ!

Bear Lake!
After 2 years of trying out different venues, the Kent Thompson Family Reunion returned to Bear Lake, where it originated almost 50 years ago! We were very happy to be back at Bear Lake where we feel like we belong. Here are some things we enjoyed doing while we were there:
Boating:
Sunbathing: (with Cassie and Kori)
Rafting: (with Tavia, Katie and Ian)
Playing in the sand: (with Ian and Clint)
Kneeboarding: (also wakeboarding, waterskiing through the slalom course, and kiteboarding)
Standing up on the kneeboard: (well, Kori was attempting it anyway)
Hanging out with the Pete Thompson cousins:
And then ambushing them in the waterfight the next day!
Reading:
Sleeping:
Teaching Morgan how to ski skim:
Soaking in the hot pools:
Crafting: (with DawnEtta and Alyx)
Playing games:
Sailing:
Jumping:
We all had a great time. Why do vacations always go too fast? See you again next year, Bear Lake and cousins!!
