Homecoming Dance Continued...

It was a successful dance!  Wes and I had a great time.  We were busy taking tickets at the door most of the time.  We also helped with drinks.  We only got in 2 quick slow dances.  So much for shaking it at the dance!  I was really really tired, plus it smelled bad in the gym!!  Still, a bunch of fantastic kids!  So glad again that my kids go to Sky View!  We snapped a couple of pics while we were cleaning up:

The BAGA boat.

I can't believe those rings stayed up all week long!

Celebratory cheers of Homecoming success!

Me and my date.  The theme was "I'd rather be with you."  The decorations were really cute.  They had a dock and a gazebo and this awesome Sky View colored boat and a blue fake ceiling and lots of trees and lights.

Homecoming Dance 2012

Kori's date is Alex.  Their day date sounded fun.  They went to kind of a gymnastics gym in Brigham City called the Peak.  Now they're off to dinner at Chili's, and Wes and I will be following them to the dance in a little while!  I love this dress!!  We weren't sure what to do with her hair, so we just played at the last minute and I think it turned out cute!

Presenting BAGA

I so wish we could have been in two places at once.  After all of their hard work to plan and run Homecoming Week, BAGA was presented at halftime at the game.  I don't think they've ever announced BAGA before.  I hope it becomes a tradition because these kids have put in so much effort and time, and they deserve every bit of credit for how well Homecoming Week has gone this year!!  I'm so glad my kids go to Sky View.  I'm more and more impressed with the studentbody, administration and faculty.  The kids have so much spirit and seem to really get involved.  They have all stepped it up in support of the SV lights and Homecoming this year.  We were up at the SV when one of the other BAGA moms sent me these pics.  It really choked me up to see them out there on the field being honored.  Kori said the student section starting chanting "BAGA, BAGA, BAGA!"  It made these kids feel so great!
Such awesome kids!

BAGA on the field, minus Mitch who was with the football team.

So so so proud of this group!

Their reaction to the lighting of the SV hill!

Excitement and Emotion! What a great moment!

Friday Night Lights

Wes and I and Karlton got to hang out at the SV during the Homecoming game.  We didn't do much, all the work had already been done by BAGA and company, but we were there to light it up!  Hooray!!  It's a tradition that hasn't happened for many many years.  It was a beautiful and inspiring sight when those lights went on.  We couldn't believe how it lit up the whole hillside!  We got some pizza and headed up before the game:

Lindy's dad brought up this monster generator!  Can you believe the size of this thing?  It's like garage sized!

Our view of the stadium:

And the rest of the valley:

We listened to the game until halftime, and then Lindy's mom got on the phone with the BAGA adviser.  She let us know when it was the appropriate time, and then...

It was so awesome to hear the roar of the crowd!!  Kori and BAGA were on the field when the SV lit up, and her exact text to me was "IT'S THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING I'VE EVER SEEN! THIS IS THE BEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE!"  Right after the lights went on, here came the fireworks!

During the second half of the game, we drove down the hill to see what it looked like from below.  Wow!  It looked even better than we had imagined!

Wes and I settled in until about an hour after the game when we turned the power off.  It was a gorgeous, pleasant evening, and it was fun to sit up there with my honey.  We even became (honorary) true Bobcats!

By now Kori is pretty much a walking zombie.  Yesterday was a very emotional day, and she is tired with a capital T!  She is off on her day date this morning, and then it's on to the dance tonight!  I think the SV will be lit up again tonight, and I'm excited to shake it with Wes at the Homecoming dance!

It's Homecoming Week!

Kori's BAGA has its biggest responsibility this week. They are in charge of Homecoming week, all of it!

This is a great group of kids!  They've been planning for Homecoming since they got put in last Spring.  There have been a lot of highs and very few lows.  So far, Homecoming is going very well, and Kori has been able to enjoy the week.  It's a HUGE job, but what a great experience for them!  Here's the lowdown on the week so far:

Monday:  In the morning BAGA presented the Homecoming assembly, and I forgot my camera!  D'oh!  It was awesome and they got tons of compliments on it.  Their movie, which has been the cause of some drama, was so cute and funny!  I'm hoping we get a copy or at least have it posted to Youtube.  After school  Clint played Humans Vs. Zombies.  I wish I had a picture of him with his arsenal!  He had taken every Nerf gun he owns with him.  They played for about 3 hours and Clint had a blast!  That was right up his alley!

Tuesday:  Movie on the field!  Kori said tons of kids came and they made quite a bit of money.  After the movie, BAGA painted the road.  It was a fun job, if long!  Kori didn't roll in until 1:30 am!  I should have taken pics before so many cars had driven over it, but here are the painted paws on the road:

Wednesday:  Homecoming parade and Mr. Sky View!  We hooked up with the Ulriches, Mikesells and Wallaces to watch the parade.  I just love this parade because I know so many of the kids, it's not a very long one, and it's in the evening so it's nice and cool and pleasant.  This year the BAGA and families stayed after to clean up the parade route.  Tootsie Rolls are very gross when they're smashed on the road!  Yuck!
Here it comes!

Thursday:  As I'm typing this, Kori is up on SV hill putting up lights!  We are so happy that the SV is BACK!  Exec and BAGA put the stones back up over the summer, and they whitewashed it last week.  It looks so good!  BAGA wanted to light it up for Homecoming, so they have been doing a "buy a bulb" fundraiser.  They will light it up during halftime at the game on Friday, and then they will light it up for graduation and other special events.

We are excited for the game on Friday and the dance on Saturday!  Wes and I get to chaperone at the dance!!  Hopefully the rest of the week will continue to go well.  Great job Kori and BAGA!!  You guys need a well deserved good night's rest when this week is over!
