Us! Well, we should have won an honorary Oscar for our awesome Oscar night soiree! We had so much fun!! We had 85th Oscar themed decor:
Food!
Games!
Prizes!
And our own little "Richard Parker."
This is how Wes looked most of the night. Yeah, he's not really into the Academy Awards. But he's a good sport.
Clint was stretched out on the floor. Or squished, as he looks in this picture.
And this is me. The biggest fan of all.
Here are our thoughts on the Best and Worst of the night. First, the WORST:
1. The host. Sorry, Seth McFarlane, but we weren't impressed. The opening monologue was overly long and self-indulgent, not to mention offensive. The Oscars are supposed to be a celebration of the movies, not a time to antagonize everyone there who have all worked hard to be honored this past year. A couple of teasing jabs, a la Billy Crystal, are one thing, but Mr. McFarlane was downright rude the whole night.
2. The In Memoriam segment. Is it just me, or has this gone over the top? I mean, it's a nice idea to honor those we've lost, but do they need to include every single publicist or assistant grip who ever worked on a movie? And while having Barbra Streisand sing was well-intentioned, she wasn't at her best.
3. We thought Suraj Sharma NOT being nominated for an acting award was the biggest snub of the night. I mean, he was plucked out of obscurity in India, and at 17, carried the entire movie, all the while acting alone with a CGI tiger that was added in later. He was the one that took us on that journey that was Life of Pi and made us feel every emotion imaginable. My goodness, what do you have to do to get nominated?
4. The Best Song nominees were not all performed. We heard 3 out of the 5, why not perform all of them? Especially after Life of Pi won for Best Score, we were really disappointed to not hear Pi's Lullaby performed. (can you tell we're Life of Pi fans?)
5. Kristen Stewart. Enough said.
6. The dresses. Very under-whelming this year. Too many heavy metallics and neutral colors. Our response all evening was "space-man suit." Because that's what they all looked like! And Anne Hathaway, we really wanted to love how you looked because we knew you would win, but your dress was all wrong. It didn't fit very well, the color wasn't flattering, the necklace clashed with the halter neckline, and let's not even mention the unmentionables. Sorry, Anne, we still love you!
Okay, here is the BEST of the night!
1. We cheered every time Life of Pi won! It actually won more than any other film, 4 awards!
2. Kori cheered every time we saw Suraj Sharma onscreen.
3. The music! Wow, we loved seeing so many performances, and don't those Les Mis kids clean up nicely? Stunning!
4. We did like a few dresses, namely Jessica Chastain, Sandra Bullock, Amy Adams, and Octavia Spencer. These ladies certainly did not look like space-men!
5. Best speech of the night? Daniel Day-Lewis. He accepted his award with humor, grace and charm. Not to mention humility, seeing how he just made history being the first Leading Actor to win 3 Oscars.
6. Adele! Need we say more?
So much fun! I wonder what movies we'll be celebrating next year? Stay tuned...

The Evolution Of Karlton
Valentine's Day one year later! This is the first photo we have of Colton and Karlee together, before they became Karlton:
We call it "the awkward photo." Colton had just barely gotten home from his mission that very day. Since it was Valentine's Day, he really wanted to see Karlee. Although these two crushed on each other, they didn't date at all before the mission and didn't know each other very well. They wrote and got to know each other long distance. So you can imagine that although they were excited to see each other, they were both nervous and a little awkward. Well, what a difference a year can make! Now they are married!! So we made them pose for an awkward photo re-creation last night:
And this is how much their comfort level has changed in a year! We love you two. Happy Valentine's Day!!
