Clint spent a week in DC with his We The People team, competing at Nationals and enjoying the sites! None of us have ever been there before, so it was fun to hear all about it and see the pictures. Clint had a great time. We are grateful that he could have this opportunity. His team didn't make top ten or win any of the region or unit awards, but they felt good about how they competed. Sky View traditionally does well at Nationals, and they'll find out in a couple of weeks how they placed this year. Here are some of the things Clint saw while he was there, starting with the Lincoln Memorial.
The Vietnam Memorial:
The Korean Memorial:
This statue represents the service of women in war:
Clint really liked Mount Vernon:
Colonial irrigation. He took this pic for Wes. |
The teeth! |
True to form for a Thompson boy, Clint had fun taking pictures of all the cool cars he saw!
Yikes! That's a tight fit! |
The Iwo Jima Memorial:
The Capitol, and Clint said everything was undergoing renovation while he was there!
Statuary Hall:
Clint took this for Kori and me. We had no idea there was a King Kamehameha in DC! |
Here are some miscellaneous photos of the Mall and other things Clint saw:
The Martin Luther King Memorial:
One of Clint's favorite things to see was the National Archives which houses the original Constitution:
Interestingly, Clint's group was at the Supreme Court the same day that the same sex hearings began. They saw lots of protestors from both sides. Clint said it was the most crowded place he had ever been!
The Jefferson Memorial:
The Natural History Museum:
Last stop - Gettysburg. Clint was amazed at how vast it was.
