Temple Visit

Lucky me, I got to sub at Young Women this week, and it just happened to be a visit to the Temple grounds.  Just what I needed that day!  The Temple, some beautiful flowers, and some darling girls!

Cutest Little Family

Speaking of family pics, Kori took some of the Ulrich extended family and here are some of our favorite shots of Karltonia.  They are so cute, and we are so dang proud of these guys!

I Love Us

We are missing Clint, but here is our family reunion photo from 2016, isn't Livi so darling in this pic?  And I love how casual and real it is, this is just what we look like while we are there!  I love us.

Monument Advisory Committee

We are so proud of Wes!  He has been appointed to a federal committee, the Grand Staircase-Escalante Monument Advisory Committee. They are a group consisting of various disciplines, geology, paleontology, archeology, grazing, tribal representative, social science, etc. that will study the monument and give opinions on how it is to be managed.  He will serve for 3 years with an option to continue. We get to travel to the monument about 4 times a year where he will have meetings and field trips. He is supposed to become as familiar with the monument as he can so that he can best advise. His first meeting coincided with my birthday, hence, a fun family road trip! While Wes was in his meetings, Kori and I enjoyed Calf Creek Falls, one of my personal favorite hikes ever.

We loved this cute Indian family!

That night, Wes and I found this fun trail along the Escalante River.

The river was full of sediment, and we could see how high the flash flooding had been just the day before.

We found a cool old Indian grainery!

This little hanging gardens spot was super cool.

At the Visitor's Center, we loved this giant lizard sculpture and this new dino species, the Utahceratops, which was found in the monument.

Then it was on to Bryce, lots of fond memories of our trip there when the kids were little, but we did not see Kenny Chesney.  :)

She did not like taking selfies with me.

We also visited the Petrified Forest and had dinner at a delightful bed and breakfast, pizza with a dog and a cat staring us down.  Super fun.

On the way home, we finally got to see the scenic highway between Escalante and Boulder, and it did not disappoint.  Wes was in geology heaven!
