Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road?

It was a good day today.  Not only did I eat my first delicious pomegranate of the season, but I got to hold a chicken!  The Wallys captured this cute chicken after it was running around in the road.  We're still not sure why the chicken was crossing the road, but the Wallys wanted to make sure it didn't get hit by a car.  They were trying to call everyone in our neighborhood we know who has chickens, but no one was claiming it.  The Wallys were in a hurry because they were leaving for the day, so I offered to take the chicken and find its home.  I posted about the homeless chicken on Facebook.  Nothing.  I called Animal Control but the officer pretty much laughed at us and told us they can't take poultry and that we should just let it go.  At this point, I was feeling a little attached to it and wanted to find it a proper home.  Wes knew a guy who knew a guy who said he'd take another chicken to add to his coop.  We kept her in a bucket with a net over the top most of the day until our new friends could come and pick her up.  They said that their kids would be excited and that they would give her a good home.  So overall it was a win/win, and a fun, unexpected kind of day!

Happy Birthday Dear Karlee

Happy Birthday to you!!  We celebrated Karlee's birthday a day early with dinner at El Toro, presents and pumpkin cake.  Colton gave her a gorgeous new shirt, we gave her some mother/daughter earrings and some spending money.  Karlee and her sisters and mom left the day of her birthday for a girls weekend in St. George.  Karlee's dad and brothers were down there with the SV band for their last big band competition, so the girls decided to make a weekend out of it too.  Lucky me got to tend Miss Livi on Friday while Daddy was at work.  We had the funnest day!  We love you Karlee, and we're so happy that you are part of our family.  You are so kind and funny and sweet, and you are the best mommy! We hope this birthday was the best one yet!!

Halloween Carnival

I got to crash the 13th Ward Halloween Carnival once again this year.  Wes couldn't go because he had Pack Night, so I dressed in a different costume than our Halloween Day couple costume.  I was Eleven from Stranger Things.  Karlton dressed as Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia and they were darling!  Livi loved everything.  She loved talking to the other kids and coloring.  I was really glad she wasn't scared of my costume.  She makes the cutest Princess Leia, complete with her "Bacca!"

Pumpkin Walk

Livi loved the Pumpkin Walk this year!  The theme was American Icons.  Livi especially loved Pooh and company.  She really wanted to play in the park, but the place was crawling with kids since it's UEA this week.  She was pretty satisfied eating her cookie though.  Karlton took me out to lunch at Cafe Rio afterward which was super nice.  It was a really fun day, warm and beautiful October weather!

Middle Fork Waterfall

I did not know this beauty even existed until today.  And it's right here in our valley!  Ranae and I hiked to Middle Fork Waterfall up High Creek today.  It was another beautiful October hike with pretty leaves, a stream all along the way, good company, and this stunning waterfall at the end!
