Wyoming/South Dakota Day 2

Devil's Tower was the thing that Michelle was most excited about! Wes had seen it before but he was happy to go again. It was massive! We could see it from the highway driving in. We were able to hike all the way around it which was 1.3 miles. We couldn't believe how many comments we got on Wes's shirt! Lots of rock hounds at Devil's Tower. I found the crab in my luggage, so we had to take a few pictures with the crab to prove he was on this trip. After that, we stopped in Aladdin (pop. 15) to see one of Wes's old job sites and a 115 year old country store. We stopped in Belle Fourche for lunch at a delightful little coffee shop and saw a turtle poking its head out of a river. We took the scenic route through Spearfish Canyon which was a super pretty drive. We saw some waterfalls and a nice little spot on the river called the Devil's Bathtub. We were impressed with how pretty everything was. It was so wooded and full of pine trees. We felt like we were in the mountains, but we were actually at a much lower altitude than where we live. We stopped in Deadwood to walk around, visit a wild west museum, and we got in on a shootout reenactment that was fun. We continued on to Custer where we spent the next two nights.
