Mini Christmas

After Kori got home, we partied with a mini Christmas.  Kori decorated with lights and a tiny Christmas tree in a cup.  She wrapped up all the souvenirs she brought home for us, and we had a stocking full of a few goodies for her.  Super fun to be together and have a little bit of belated Christmas cheer at the beginning of February!  We LOVE all of the cool souvenirs that Kori brought home!  Alpaca fabric is so soft, and everything is so well made and gorgeous.  We totally surprised Kori with a sentimental gift of her best friend Alysha's camera!  Alysha was selling her camera to go on a mission.  We knew what a sacrifice that was for her and we wanted to be able to help her serve her mission.  We also knew that Kori has been wanting a new camera body since hers is getting a bit slow.  Alysha's camera is a lot newer, so it was a win win!  Plus the sentimental value is priceless.  Kori feels so honored to be able to shoot with Alysha's camera now.  I know Alysha feels good about selling it to someone who will take good care of it!

Clint loves family selfies.

Merry belated Christmas Kori!

Cider loved being in the thick of it all.

A beautiful 2 person hammock for Dad!  He's so excited to use it!  The colors are so beautiful!

A satchel for me!

Also some Alpaca knitted socks and a cute fish plate!

More Alpaca socks for Karlee!

Clint love his new Alpaca fabric poncho.  It's so soft and colorful!

An adorable dress for Baby Mac!  She'll be so cute in this.

Karlton got a hammock too in this rich red color!  Thanks Kori, we love all of the souvenirs, and best of all having you HOME!

Homecoming

She's here!  We got Kori home from Ecuador on Saturday!  Her friend from Ecuador, Anna, came to surprise her at the airport.  It was so fun to meet her and Kori was excited to see her.  It has felt so good to have all of our chicks in the nest again, if only for a few months.  We are gonna enjoy these few months!  We have a lot to look forward to!

Pinewood Derby

It's been a few years since the Thompsons were involved in a Pinewood Derby!  Wes and I were asked to attend our Pack's Derby as official judges.  We checked out all the cars and came up with judges' choice awards for them.  The cars were awesome!  Great job, Cubs and Dads!  It was well run, organized and fun!  I think every kid had a big smile the whole night and no one went home feeling disappointed.  We took a few legacy cars to run down the track.  Clint's Bronco still smokes all the competition even after all these years!  My shark liked this particular track and it took second every time!  Thanks for including a couple of oldies at the Pinewood Derby, we had so much fun!

Talent Show

Clint was in the Sky View talent show assembly today.  His talent was a dramatic reading of Vanilla Ice and LMFAO song lyrics.  He was hilarious!  He sounded great, got huge applause, and everyone loved it.  We did take some video but it's too big to post here.  If we can figure something else out, we'll add it later.  But here are some pics!

We also knew a few more kids at the show.  This is Ashley, the daughter of some friends of ours.  She played the guitar and sang a song.  She was awesome!

Stephanie, a girl from our ward, played the piano for this cute quartet to sing.

And darling Sarah stole the show with her piano number.  She was the closing act and probably got the biggest applause.

Of course, the school song.  Singing and swaying.  My favorite part of Sky View.

The rest of the talent show lineup included piano playing, jump roping, glow stick dancing, contemporary dancing, a little hip hop, rapping, more guitars and singers.  A good variety, and kudos to everyone for performing!  But our favorite was Clint.  Of course.

Road Trip

We had a quick trip down south over the weekend.  Clint had his GHA reunion in Cedar City.  Wes had some work to do in St. George, so it worked out great to do both at the same time.  We drove down Friday, dropped Clint off at SUU, and then Wes and I continued on to St. George.  It was 60 degrees when we got there Friday evening, but Saturday morning we woke up to clouds and about 40 degrees with a little bit of rain.  It didn't hamper anything, in fact it made for great hiking weather!  Wes had a couple of different stops.  First he checked out his recent project that is all finished now.  Can you believe this parking lot was a giant hole a month ago?

Next, we checked out a little piece of property next to a residential area.

Then we had a longer hike around the perimeter of a 90 acre parcel of land outside of town.

It was fun to be an assistant geologist for the day!  Meanwhile Clint had a great time with his GHA friends.  He said it was just like no time had passed.  39 of the 50 kids showed up and they didn't get any sleep!  I'm so glad we were able to take him down for it.  It was a quick but great getaway!
