Apple Pressing Time

This has become a fun tradition with our Island Park friends and I don't think I have any pictures of it yet, so here we go. Scott and Sandra built their house on an old apple orchard and they kept as many apple trees as they could. In order to use up their apples each fall, Scott built this nifty apple press. They always invite us over one day to help press the apples. This apple cider is super delicious and well worth the effort to make it. We always end the day with a weenie roast and potluck dinner, yum! The cute kids here are some of the Roper grand kids who have been making this their tradition too. They are huge helpers! For some reason, Wes always seems to be out of town when we do this. Or he'll come late. This year he was once again out of town and I went solo. Maybe next year!
Pushing the apples into the disposer is Tenzing's favorite part.

I think we had close to 50 gallons of cider for our night's work.

Pizza, Play-Doh and Poma Night!

Lucky me got to tend these two while their parents went out on a date. So much fun! Sadly, Pop-Pop had to go out of town on an emergency for work at the last minute. Next time we'll include him too. We had pizza, dance moves, play-doh, cookies, food, jammies and books before bed. Love me some Livi and Ivy time!

Bunco Reunion And Cemetery Hopping

After talking about it for years, we finally had a Bunco reunion, all thanks to Ranae getting the ball rolling. Ranae and I planned it. We went up to Bear Lake. We had 8 former Bunco Babes join us and we had a ball! Ranae and I went up the night before to get things ready. Saturday morning before everyone arrived, we went cemetery hopping. This is one of Ranae's hobbies. She wants to visit as many cemeteries as she can. She always takes a photo of the cemetery sign and one interesting grave stone she finds. This time, she had a stone in mind she wanted to find. In the Bloomington cemetery, there is a lady who was the first female convert ever baptized in England. Ranae knows this because Ranae's great great grandmother was the second female convert ever baptized in England. We found the grave and then decided to keep going. We visited 6 cemeteries in all and the Paris Tabernacle. We even found Karlee's cousin and grandparents at the Liberty cemetery. It was a gorgeous day and we had a lot of fun. We made it back in time to make dinner and welcome all the Bunco guests. What a great weekend!

I'm So Fancy

Sometimes we get fancy when we video message...

Livi Sleepover

We love it when this girl comes for a sleepover! We have a new play-doh cake maker and it was a hit! We ended the party with some Cafe Rio before taking Livi home.

The Dark Side Of Waterskiing

This was not where we wanted to be on a beautiful day at Bear Lake:

Wes had just gotten up on his ski when he had a little crash which resulted in a major hamstring injury. He was out on the boat with Clint and a couple of his friends. They called me at the house and had me meet them at the marina to take Wes to the health clinic. He was in a ton of pain and we had a tough time getting him out of the boat. At one point he fainted on us. But we made it to the health clinic where they wrapped him, gave him some crutches and narcotics and sent us on our way with an order for an MRI in Logan. We got him home that night and tried to make him as comfortable as we could. We were so grateful that Clint's friends were there that day. They were able to help Wes out of the boat, and then they were able to help Clint get the boat loaded up while I was at the clinic with Wes. I'm not sure what we would have done if it had just been me and Clint. The next day Clint and Calvin gave Wes a beautiful blessing of healing and comfort. What a neat thing that was to witness these two boys who we watched grow up who are now worthy Melchizedek Priesthood holders, and for Clint to be able to bless his dad.

He was a good sport the first few days even though he was in a lot of pain.

He had the next week off work due to TFR, so Wes and I drove back up to the lake and spent a couple of days before the kids got there. He made it down to the water on his crutches and that made him happy. The bruises started to appear too.

We were able to drive back to Logan one day for an MRI and a visit to the doc. He tore his hamstring, but the tendon is still attached, so no surgery. Whew for that at least. But we got a few "wows" out of the doc and a couple of "you really did a number on this!" We went back up to the lake for the rest of the week. The rest of us played while Wes convalesced. He was a really great sport, although I'm sure it was about killing him to not be out on the boat. He was able to get down in the water and float around each day and that felt good to him. He started physical therapy when we got back home. He'll be going a couple times a week for about 6 weeks and then we'll see where he is. He has made it back to work a little bit this week, and he drove himself the last couple of days. He still needs help putting his socks on, he's not sleeping and he's still in a lot of pain. Poor guy. Hopefully it's uphill from here. His bruises are impressing the people at physical therapy. We've never seen bruising like this, it's just awful. He's pretty much got the map of the world on his leg and it keeps changing and moving around. Here is the latest picture of the bruises.
