Labor Day Camping

We went up High Creek for Labor Day weekend this year!  It was a memorable trip in more ways than one.  The first night, Wes woke up in the middle of the night to strong skunk smell!  He was worried that our whole camp had been hit, so he went out to check things out.  All of our stuff was okay, but our dog had gotten a glancing blow of skunk.  Poor Cider.  We call her Stinker anyway, now we have a new reason for that nickname!  Luckily she didn't get much, she wasn't bothered by it and we could just catch a whiff now and then. She has been washed a bunch of times and I think after a few days we won't even notice anymore.

Wes said that Clint had a spiritual prompting because when we were getting ready for bed, Clint said "Dad, aren't you going to lock Cider in her crate?"  Wes didn't want to because he didn't want to have to get up early to let her out.  But he should have listened I guess.  Our Family Home Evening lesson this week is all about that skunk!  And how sin is like a skunk, you don't want to get too close or flirt too much with sin or you'll get sprayed!  Then you have to suffer the consequences, and other people have to live with those consequences too.  Sometimes it takes a long time to get over those things.  It's a good analogy!
