Big Island

We hopped over to the Big Island for a little graduation get away. We were immediately struck by how different it is from Oahu. Much higher elevation, the roads were up high, not along the ocean, the shore is mostly craggy lava or cliffs, not as many beaches, the weather was much cooler and rainier, and the landscape was really varied. Sometimes it didn't even seem like we were in Hawaii. Our conversations included a lot of "wow" "bizarre" "strange" and "weird." Good thing we had our resident geologist along to explain why the island looks so different. After finding our cute little rental house, we took a walk along the nearby Punalu'u black sand beach. It was beautiful!
