This little nativity is one that I made for my mom when I was 10 years old. I found it when we were cleaning out the house and brought it down to show everyone. My mom had always wanted a nice nativity set, and I decided that year that I would make her one. I spent lots of time in the craft room with the door shut, my mom wondering what I was doing. I made these figures out of paper cups, felt, trim, embroidery floss and pipe cleaners, and I fastened everything together with straight pins! We were kind of horrified when I brought these home and saw all the pins. I hadn't remembered that that was how I fashioned them. We also chuckled at the little "kitty cat" sheep. That Christmas morning when my mom opened up my gift, she was so touched that she cried. I had not expected that and it made me feel so good to know that I had made her happy with my little homemade nativity set. We are going to display this set this year and think about my mom who is having a hard time right now.
