I got to help once again this year with the Health Days Scholarship Program. That's the official title, I still think we should just be calling it what it is and that's a Pageant! Anyway, I digress... It was super fun this year because I knew more of the girls. Kori's age group was eligible this year, but she felt like she didn't have enough time to devote to it. Ah, well, maybe next year. It would be fun Kori!! I wish I had more photos. I didn't think to take pictures of the decor, but it looked really cute. We had turquoise, coral, and pink painted frames, plus a bunch of pinwheels. The backdrop was this screen made of antique doors with some twinkly lights. Very cool. Five girls are chosen to represent Smithfield over the next year and they all reign equally. They receive a $500 scholarship which is not too shabby either! Here are this year's winners:
Here are the winners plus Miss Congeniality on the far right:
ALL of the eleven participants did a really incredible job! They are amazing girls, and I'm glad I didn't have to be the one to judge them! I just loved seeing their gorgeous dresses!
Here are last year's winners who were back to crown the new royalty. I love their bright tangerine dresses!
And Kori's friend Autumn with her banana (it was part of her speech) who SHOULD have won solely based on how completely adorable she is!!!

Eagle Project Part Two - The Bad News
Saturday night after the boys got home, they told me the bad news. Someone had pulled up all of Clint's newly planted trees and made a teepee out of them out at the reservoir. Can you believe it? Seriously, who would do that? After all that hard work, we were just heartsick about it. Fortunately, most of the trees were there, their bases were still damp, and the holes were still visible. Wes and Clint and Colton spent a couple of hours replanting the trees. Sunday evening we went back out and flagged the trees and put up a sign. Hopefully they will get left alone now! And hopefully they will be okay and still grow. Keep your fingers crossed!
We had one more to plant Sunday evening. |
We added flags. |
We put flags on our sign too. |
Sorry for the disappointment Clint. |
Can you see pink flags out there? |
Here is the sign we put up. |
Spring Riding At Kelton
The boys were excited for a nice Saturday so they could ride. They went with some friends out to Kelton on Friday night. It was Colton's first time back on the bike since the mish, and his first time sleeping in our new trailer. Clint has been using Colton's stuff since Colton was gone, and they didn't realize until they were getting ready that they needed some new equipment for Clint! Good thing they hit a store before they got out there or Clint wouldn't have had a helmet. As it was, Wes forgot his helmet and had to borrow one!! But it was a gorgeous day and they had a great time!
Setting up camp. |
Looks like a perfect day! |
Colton with his bike. |
Clint with his bike and new helmet. |
Wes with his borrowed helmet without the full face. Yikes! Don't forget yours next time!! |
Clint is ready to take over Colton's bike too! These last pics are of Clint's first ride on the bigger bike. |

Junior Prom Part Two
2012 Junior Prom Royalty!
This is a really great group of kids, all good friends of Kori's. Third Attendants were Autumn and Daniel!
Second Attendants Lexi and John!
First Attendants Kori and Chase!
And Prom King and Queen!
Kierstin and Tanner!!
Wes and I had so much fun hanging out for a little while at the dance. Of course I enjoyed seeing all of the dresses!! We observed a few things about the dances at Sky View versus our own high school dance experiences.
1. We love that the dances are always at the school. Always, even for Prom. It keeps the costs down, keeps the kids in a close and safe environment, and gives them even more pride in their school.
2. The decorations looked fantastic! They went all out. It didn't even resemble a school gym in there. Great job, Liz and company!!
3. The kids all dance! There were a few kids out in the lobby area, but the majority of the kids were in the gym and they were ALL dancing! It was so cool to watch them. They were obviously having a blast!
4. The variety of clothing was amazing. I didn't even know there were so many styles of tuxes. Every color and style of dress was represented, and mostly modest. All kinds of shoes, a lot of retro stuff. Pretty much, whatever your style, anything goes. How great is that?
5. At Sky View, you can only be in a dance royalty one time, which I love because it gives more kids an opportunity. When they got ready to announce the royalty, they had all the kids stand in two rows across the gym floor facing each other and holding up their hands to form an arch. As they announced the names, the Attendants, King and Queen ran all the way through the arch up to the platform and everyone cheered for them. So much fun! The royalty and everyone else danced to the theme song which was Enchanted by Taylor Swift. Then they took professional pictures of the group. I thought it was weird that they had this huge green background until Kori told me that it's actually a green screen! Ah, duh. It will be interesting to see what they do with the final photo. Here are the rest of the pics I got.
Thanks Kori for letting us come down to the dance and hang out. It was fun to be there with the other parents, and we're so excited that you got to be a Prom Princess! Okay one more. Sorry, indulge me. Wes made me pose for this shot because he knows I secretly want to be a Prom Mom!! Ha ha!
