Hawaii Five-0 - Sightseeing in Honolulu

On Sunday, we went to the Waialua Ward for church, where we felt comfortable and welcomed.  It was a small ward, and since it was the Sunday before Christmas, we got to be part of the Christmas program.  The Sister missionaries narrated, and the congregation sang all the hymns.  It was really nice.  After church, we decided that visiting some of the memorials would be a worthy way to spend a Sunday on vacation.  I think the Arizona and the Punchbowl are 2 things that everyone should see once in their life while visiting Oahu.  First stop was Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial.

The visitor's center has really changed since we were last there!  It's been expanded quite a bit, and it was really nice!

Next, the Punchbowl.  Senator Daniel Inouye's memorial service had been held earlier in the day and the chairs and tents for this were still set up.  That's why all the flags were flying at half mast while we were there.

We stopped at the Iolani Palace, and the Ali'iolani Hale, home of the fictional Hawaii Five-0 Headquarters.

Book 'em, Danno!

Behind Iolani, the kids found this Banyan tree to climb.

After seeing the sights around Honolulu, we drove the Pali Highway to the Pali Lookout.  On the way back, we took the H-3 which goes right through the mountains.  Literally, there's a long tunnel right through a mountain!  The views were spectacular!

Ah, those beautiful mountains!
